Sodding T-Mobile UK

Yes, it’s me again, me with the idiot network. Me, the silly subscriber.

I have a relationship with T-Mobile via the internet. Two accounts, both administered online. I don’t like having to arse around for 3-4 minutes with the automated service trying to speak-to-a-customer-services-agent on the phone. It just takes too long and winds me right up trying to guess the right key strokes to speak to a human. They do their level best to direct you to dead ends or to the computer to make a payment that will never work on my account, for some reason.

I have been regularly logging into both accounts to check all is ok. It was. I put them both on Direct Debit.

Or so I thought.

Turns out that I didn’t QUITE put the other account on direct debit. You can’t. The system won’t let you, if you’ve got a balance.

So I tried to clear the balance.

But I can’t, because their system won’t take my payment.

It seems that, for me, the only way to pay T-Mobile is to:

a) Do a bank transfer
b) Walk to their headquarters and give the cash to a lady at reception
c) Write a cheque and post it

Well I don’t get my physical bills often, I move around, ergo I don’t have the cheque stub thing to pay by post. I resent having to arse about with a sodding bank transfer as I can’t remember my account number etc etc. I want to do it online, click click click.

That is my fault.

Turns out I haven’t paid T-Mobile, for this account, for about 3 months. Their system just won’t take a payment from me, no matter what I do, what card I use. This has been going on for MONTHS. I spent ages on the phone whilst a customer services agent tried to work it out. I eventually cured the issue by doing a sodding sodding bank transfer.

Then I forgot as consumers do. Instead of a phone call from T-Mobile (like I got the last time), I had nothing and my account lapsed into ‘ERROR ERROR SUSPENDED ERROR’. Gahhh. Could I be arsed to set a calendar entry to remember to pay my other T-Mobile account? No. I know I can fix it by simply making a sodding transfer. But it really, really, really annoys me. REALLY annoys me that the WAY I want to pay DOESN’T WORK for this account (it works for the other account I have perfectly fine).

So tomorrow I am going to phone them up and fix it. I’m going to terminate the account. I’ve had enough of it. Possibly pedantic? Well, the fact I haven’t actually missed the account for three months highlights that it’s not that useful to me. I’ll convert it to the lowest amount per month, pay it off and close it. Done. No more of this nonsense.
