Songtapper -- identify a song by tapping on your mobile spacebar
Oli of the Daily Networker knocked me over a note this morning suggesting we meet shortly. Well up for that. I’ve known Oli for quite a while — and, well, the amount of people he knows is just continually astounding.
His note was about Songtapper. He came across it and reckoned I should take a look.
It’s a rather nifty little service and is the brainchild of Geoff Peters, Caroline Anthony, and Michael Schwartz, who are students/alumni of Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
The Song Tapper is a new way to search for music, by tapping the rhythm of the song’s melody.
Do you ever have the annoying situation where there is a song stuck in your head, and you don’t know the name of it? With luck, and with your help, this web site will try to solve this problem!
Load up our search screen, and try tapping the rhythm of the song on your space bar while humming the tune. Tap the space bar for each syllable that you sing.
I tried it out. It works! However the reason for blogging is that they’ve actually made a mobile version of it — so provided your handset supports flash, you could do this on the move! Check out the Songtapper mobile version.
