Sony Ericsson Launches Music Store about 3 years too late

You have to worry, you really do. Who the hell is making these decisions?

Mobile phone maker Sony Ericsson entered into the already-crowded online music store market on Tuesday by introducing M-BUZZ, a service aimed at promoting new and up-and-coming artists. Two phones would initially offer the service, W850 and W950 Walkman phones that were announced earlier this year.

Have a read of this comment too:

“Today’s announcement is another great example of the cooperative spirit that exists between Sony Ericsson and other Sony Group companies, which gives us a unique opportunity to bring appealing, innovative content to our mobile phones,” Sony Ericsson president Miles Flint said.

I hardly think it’s worth applauding the cooperative spirit. It’s far, far, far TOO late. Absolutely ridiculous.

Where was your spirit of cooperation when I was fumbling about with my absolutely RIDICULOUSLY shit NetWalkman with 64mb of memory? 😉

The device itself: Brilliant.

The piece of shit software used to transfer music to it: Nothing short of appalling.

Where was the Sony music store? HOW COME it took Steve Jobs to make a music store that I already KNEW I wanted? I’d have used Sony’s one, if they could have only got their act together. They couldn’t even give us huge Sony fans an online store of their music. Even with all that crap copy protection all over the place. And now they wait until half way through 2006?

Sony should have been there years ago. Woe is me.

I like their handsets, just not their strategic direction.
