The importance of low latency in touchscreens

Steve Litchfield over at All About Symbian has posted a fascinating video from Microsoft’s Research team highlighting just how rubbish our existing touchscreen interfaces are — and pointing the way forward. It’s all about touch latency — that is, the time between your touch on a screen and the device reacting. Most devices right now are operating around the 100ms mark. It’s not until you get to 1ms that things get rather exciting.
