The LG Shine on Virgin Mobile
Flicking through the Metro newspaper on Friday, I came across this ad for the LG Shine from Virgin Mobile. I wondered how much they were selling the handset for on Pay As You Go.
Answer? £219. That puts it squarely in the premium section of the Virgin Mobile stall. Which is right and proper.
I saw my first Shine in the wild today. A girl got on the tube proudly displaying it to all and sundry. I think she was momentarily impressed that I had glanced at and admired her handset. Everyone else on the train was looking. Little did she know that I was formulating this blog as she sat back and basked in the collective yet unvoiced ‘oooohs’ going around the carriage.
Then, today, I was at breakfast and found one of my colleague Martin’s guests, Munit, was sporting a brand new Shine. I asked how she was getting on with it — she, like my friend Ilana, is absolutely loving her device. One issue though: The chirps and chirrup noises it makes as you use it… she really liked that for the first few days, then, she decided to switch it off.
I know what she means… but you can’t keep it silent for too long. They’re just far too cool.
She hadn’t hear that Good Morning track either, so I showed her how to find it and played it for the benefit of all the people having breakfast in the hotel. Heh.
Which reminds me, Bolton is Peter Kay territory. He’s got a particular brand of humour that appeals. Here’s one of his:
I I saw a woman wearing a sweatshirt with ‘”Guess” on it. I said “Thyroid problem?”
