The Nokia store at Lakeside
I need a cable for my N90. I want to mount it to my Apple — not just send files to and from it via Bluetooth. Dunno what I’ve done with the cable so I thought I’d see if the Nokia store had it.
I walked in and asked the chap at the sales desk for one. He looked distant for a moment then said ‘ahh, yes..’ and looked around for a bit, slightly hesitant.
I was momentarily elated at the look of recognition in the chap’s eyes — he knew what I meant.
He fumbled at the sales desk for a few seconds then queried his stock computer. I thought he was about to ask me if I wanted to order one. How boring. So I said ‘I’ll be back in next week if that’s any good?”
He then explained that it wouldn’t be — something ‘strange’ was going on (his word!) and that they would not be having any more deliveries for a few weeks.
From all I’ve heard of the Nokia store strategy, I can’t quite believe that this one is truly a Nokia owned and operated store. What Nokia store wouldn’t have data cables to connect your handset to your PC?
I feel for sure that this must be a privately run store using the Nokia brand.
