The Rise of Android: Mr Scoble might switch from iPhone, who else?
Well then, this is interesting.
When The Silicon Valley Elite (“TSVE”) sit up and take notice of Android, the point at when the rest of the planet can stop obsessing about the iPhone may well be near.
The iPhone, to the annoyance of many, has been continually punching above it’s weight (in the context of mobile device shipments) for quite a while now. The fact that it’s still such a small percentage of the market really irritates a lot of people.
But when the elite influencers begin to look elsewhere at the likes of Android, that’s when this industry really gets exciting — because this kind of comment points to a new wave coming.
As HTC, Samsung, Motorola, Sony Ericsson and the countless other Android manufacturers begin to deliver and innovate on stupidly fast product lifecycles, Android handsets will shortly start claiming the hearts of many a mobile geek. It’ll be very exciting to see how Apple respond to that marketplace.
Back to Scoble though… in his FriendFeed conversation he’s looking more and more turned on to Android…
Android, though, looks like it’ll be my next phone, unless someone comes up with a game changer
