Three 'Ultrafast' data roll out to reach users faster than LTE

Despite still lacking an LTE license to deliver true 4G services (akin to EE‘s), Three has confirmed it will be launching the service in 2013.However, many users will be benefit more quickly from the roll-out of ‘Ultrafast’ 3G as Three roll out HSPA+ and DC-HSDPA services which – for many – will match 4G speeds. The service currently reaches 50% of the UK population and the operator has announced plans to reach a further 30% in 2013.

The firm has published a list of the top 50 cities in the UK to receive ‘ultrafast’ services:

Users will need compatible equipment, the iPhone 5new iPad, E2356 dongleSony Xperia T and Windows Phone 8X are all appropriately compatible, although many older handsets can also use HSPA+ only which can give real-world speeds of over 10Mbps for downloads.
