Cover me in marmalade and call me Gorgeous: I would have fallen off my chair if I was sitting on one when I walked into the Three store and saw this on one of their screens.

I headed immediately for the sales guy.

‘You’re doing the N93?’ I quizzed him.

‘Yeah, we just haven’t put’em out on display yet, want me to get you one to try out?’ he replied.

I said no.

Oh boy. It’s not even on the website yet.

The cost? The northern end of £400-£500 mark. But if you want it on contract, you can have it free on £45/month (£22.50 for the first 6 months).

Gosh.

Ooooh my.

This is the first operator I’ve seen who’s actually ‘selling’ the N93. You can get one from Vodafone. You can get one from Carphone Warehouse. But it appears that Three UK are actually selling the handset as part of their range, properly.

That makes it a consumer handset. That makes it a real live consideration for a ton of people upgrading.

A tool like this, in the hands of ordinary members of the public? 😉 Exciting. Exciting.

Normally the N90 or the N93 was the domain of the uber-hyper-geek. You had to be reaaaaaaaaaaaally into phones to want to get one — and really into your photos and video to make it a worthwhile purchase. But now that they’re making them ‘consumer’, … bring it on. That opens up the marketplace. More demand for photo and video services. More demand for data services. And so on.

Very, very exciting.

Top marks and kudos to Three.
