Tocmag -- launches, aiming to become the mobile myspace
Had a note in today about Tocmag, a free service that allows anyone to create mini-magazines for mobiles.
The magazines can be filled with up to six pages of text, photos, audio and even video. It’s little wonder trend-spotters are calling Tocmag ‘the mobile MySpace’.
They’re incredibly easy to create: anyone with access to a computer and the internet can build a Tocmag. A text and image Tocmag can be built and downloaded in under five minutes. Once created, Tocmags can be downloaded via mobile internet to a limitless number of phones.
Tocmags are automatically stored on a phone’s memory, so they can be read anywhere – regardless of whether you have mobile reception.
During Beta testing phase, an incredible 10,872 Tocmags were built and 123,523 downloads made. These figures were generated entirely by word-of-mouth recommendation.
Those are some impressive statistics.
It looks like an interesting concept. I’m going to have a go later on.
