My Top 7 Apps: Daniel Hunter from Text4Assist

Here we are with another Top 7 apps post. Today we have Daniel Hunter who is the MD of Text4Assist;

Text4Assist is a specialist digital outsourced service provider that optimises customer engagement and reduces operational costs by enabling organisations to communicate with customers through mobile messaging.

The sophisticated natural language technology and expertise mean that Text4Assist can help clients deliver ‘on brand’, automated, digital communications whenever it is appropriate to do so. The multi-lingual contact centre operations are available 24/7 to manage more complex digital interactions, giving organisations peace of mind that customers are always taken care of.

Daniel uses the iPhone 5 and 6. Let’s have a look at Daniel’s list…

Daniel Hunter OnePulse: OnePulse is a disruptive consumer engagement platform that enables quick market research by sending little bite-size surveys known as ‘pulses’ to its panel.  By its very nature – the research is conducted via a mobile app – OnePulse allows access to a Generation C panel that is segmented on lifestyle preferences rather than conventional segmentation criteria.  The app is easy to set up and use, provides very quick and detailed responses.  The best part is that if you’re a survey respondent, you actually get paid for your views!  www.onepulse.com

Waze: I spend a lot of my time visiting clients in Rome.  And, for those of you who have been there, you’ll know that in addition to being a magnificent and culturally rich city, that getting around by car can be quite a challenge (if in fact you’re brave enough to drive there).  So I use Waze – a superb app that helps me navigate Rome’s chaotic streets.  Waze is arguably the world’s largest community-based traffic and navigation app which aggregates data from a community of drivers in your area who share real-time traffic and road info, saving everyone time, stress and fuel money on their daily commute.  So, wherever you may be, if traffic’s a nightmare, try out Waze – hopefully it will help you too.  www.waze.com

Kindle: Now, I know that Kindle has been around for a long time, but let’s not forget just how fantastic it is.  I travel on business for approximately 70% of the time and I freely admit that my kindle is my best (and often only) travel companion.  With the Kindle app I not only have access to all of my books, but can use it whenever and wherever I want, using the device that suits me at the time.  So, whether I’m on a train with my phone or in a hotel with my tablet, I can access my library of books and magazines however I want.  Last but not least, it’s also a great way of accessing and sharing material with my family.

MyVodafone: Working in the mobile industry where customer service can be an important differentiator, I would be very remiss indeed if I didn’t give this very nifty little Vodafone Italy self-help app a mention.  In addition to being one of the most diffused Italian B2C apps, it’s very easy to use both for business and personal use, it has a common interface across all devices and, unlike other self-service apps, I access and use it regularly, which is saying a lot – or at the very least that it’s really low effort.  Last but not least, it should be applauded for the simple reason that it means you don’t have to go through the (often) frustrating process of calling a contact centre.

Flipboard: Flipboard is a single place to discover, collect and share all the news you care about.  It’s actually quite amazing as there are over 34,000 topics to follow, which means that there’s something in there for everybody and it’s very easy to set up for your own personal interest areas.  I love this app for its design, simplicity, colourful pictures and its ability to inject news and stories from all over the world through a simple interface.  In summary: a great weekend morning with coffee app! www.flipboard.com

Fantastical 2: This app is without a doubt one of the best calendar apps out there today.  It works with the same calendar accounts already set up with the built-in iOS 7 Calendar app: iCloud, Google Calendar, Yahoo, Exchange, etc. and synchronisation between apple devices is a piece of cake.  I particularly like the reminder/alert function with its ability to act on key words or phrases.  Fantastical is fully localised in English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish, so great for multi-national environments and families.  You simply enter your event or reminder in any of those languages and Fantastical will automatically understand. In my view, a ‘must have’ for iPhone users.

VSCO Cam: Anybody I’ve ever been on holiday with will agree with the fact that I’m not a great photographer, however, I do like to take the odd photo when traveling. This iPhone & iPod Touch camera app is a great way to shoot, edit, and share your photographs (and it allows me to take better photographs). It’s easy to use thanks to its elegant, minimal processing options.  The sleek interface and streamlined workflow enables users to access a good selection of tools and filters.

Thanks to Daniel for his list, now I have another calendar app to try before I find the one that fits me best. Thank you!
