Touchnote is rocking my world once again

I felt like a bit of a broken record for the last little while when it came to Touchnote. The original iPhone app (version 1) was simply brilliant when it hit the App Store, but then I began to tire of the payments process.

Touchnote wasn’t to blame per se, the stupid rules around the App Store payments mechanisms made it rather difficult to implement anything other than PayPal or credit card payments — and at the time, PayPal was exceedingly (and I do mean, exceedingly) rubbish. Case in point — when I tried to pay with PayPal via the Touchnote app, the service popped up a FULL SCREEN version of PayPal. I don’t know who was to blame for this but you’d think that PayPal would recognise the iPhone browser and adjust accordingly. No. I then had to spend vital seconds arsing around with the zoom in function.

The final product from Touchnote has always …er… delivered. If you excuse the pun. Their postcards are super quality, the dispatching is fast and the price is highly reasonable at £1.49 per card anywhere in the world.

It was just the click-click-click ordering process that was winding me up.

And that’s fixed. The experience on the iPhone now is dreamy. Utterly dreamy.

There’s now an ‘account’ option. You can sign in and find out how many credits you’ve got left (1 credit = 1 postcard). You can top up your account easily there-and-then or you can do so on the web browser later on.

Selecting and positioning images is a LOT better — I am a real fan of the touch/zoom/rotate options:

Addressing and composing is a lot clearer:

The Postbox screen is an excellent addition — this shows you what you’ve sent recently.

Tap in and you can view the photo and the text/addressees. Ultra useful.

The update has renewed my joy with Touchnote. It’s so much more efficient and so much nicer to use. Good work chaps!
