Vonage UK -- ridiculous, ridiculous and rather annoying

You remember Vonage, right? I bought it the moment they entered the market — and was delighted to receive their little router. It worked perfectly. Unfortunately the call quality was shit. I mean ridiculously bad. So much so that I have never, ever managed to make a Vonage call without someone saying, ‘Er, this is a ………. very…….. bad …….. line………’

Right, remember I had an amount of money outstanding with Vonage?

Their system refused, point-blank, to take any of my credit cards. I wasn’t able to pay so they suspended my account — much, incidentally, to my relief.

Then I had a chat with a customer services person — one of those annoying chats. I asked how I could pay them. They insisted I use the non-functioning online payment gateway.

I asked if I could send them a cheque. No.

I asked if I could send them a bank transfer. No.

Ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous.

So I left it, you know, I got busy.

Then, just recently, I got a note from the heavy-handed-mob. The pay-or-we’ll-nail you folk. Creditlink Account Recovery Solutions Limited. They’re fairly efficient. They demanded cash from their client. Obviously it’s double the amount by now.

Total arses (Vonage, not the Creditlink folk, they seem to be quite polite and efficient).

I’ve paid off the balance.

TOTAL ARSES.

I’m delighted to be Vonage free. What a shame. I had such high hopes for them.
