Waterfall Mobile's mobile marketing work for Toyota

I met Matt Silk, top man at Waterfall Mobile at the Unlimited Drinks event in Los Angeles last year. I asked him to keep me updated with any hot case studies that I could publish (see my request for readers to send me client case studies here).

True to his word, Matt knocked me over a mail this morning with news of their recent work for car manufacturer, Toyota. It’s all based around the South By South West music festival happening this coming March. Here’s what they’re up to:

Mobile Objective:
– Keep SXSW attendees updated on festival news, events and perks while leveraging content from well-known industry blogs
– Enable attendees to deliver SMS reminders & alerts based on customized festival itinerary designed on website

Marketing Tactics:
– Web widget was integrated into website allowing folks to select from a variety industry blog alerts.
– “SMS to Mobile” button was placed w/in the “Create Itinerary” section of the website as an option for delivery
– Online and guerilla marketing being done to drive folks to the website
– Offline marketing w/ text message call-to-actions will be done via festival marketing materials.

Mobile Tactics:
– Subscriptions
– Subscription / Opt-ins were created for each blog – 6 total.
– End-users have the ability to sign-up for each subscription listed on the widget. For each sign-up, a separate opt-in will be delivered.

Scheduled Messaging
– Attendees can send their SXSW itinerary (each of the shows listed) to their phone via SMS via widget built into site
– The SMS will be delivered 60 minutes before each of the events in their itinerary

Here’s the sign-up from ‘in the wild’ on the SXSW site:

I hope to have a performance update from Matt once the event is over. Thanks Matt!
