Weekly stare in the Vodafone shop window

Er.

Unfortunately I only passed Vodafone shops. Strange, eh? Quite telling. Good work whoever buys up mobile shop property for Vodafone. I walked straight along Piccadilly, through Leicester Sq, through Covent Garden to Kingsway and only saw Vodafone shops.

I was hoping to get a few o2 or Orange store shots just to see what they were doing with marketing. I couldn’t be bothered hunting for a Three store. T-mobile stores — genuine T-mobile stores run by T-mobile .. well, forget that. You can arrange the entire square footage of genuine T-mobile’s UK stores quite comfortably on the foreskin of a fly.

Slight exaggeration, possibly.

You know, it’s rather annoying going into a T-mobile branded shop, thinking it’s T-mobile you’re having a converstion with and finding out that it’s some independent store that doesn’t want to do anything other than flog you a new line. Seriously, I went into the ‘T-mobile’ store in Bluewater last year and asked the guy to see if I qualified for an upgrade. He said I should calll T-mobile and ask. Errr. Right.

Anyway this week’s Vodafone shop window is very uninspiring. They’re still on the ‘get 1000 texts if you sign up on pay as you go’ offer. Meeeehhhhh. NEXT.

NO cool handsets advertised.
NO revolutionary price plans.
NO wickedly cool things happening.

I suppose we are quickly entering the ‘dead months’ of July and August.

On a related note, I wonder why Vodafone never stocked the N90?

I shall need to remember to Ask Arun in my next column.
