Yahoo! Go! on! the! Nokia! N73!
There’s a big fat Yahoo Go button on my new Nokia N73. Remember Nokia and Yahoo did a deal a while ago to pre-load Yahoo Go on their handsets? Well this is the first one of those I’ve got.
I took a look around. It’s still very much similar to what I recall on the N90. I really don’t like the way they handle news. When you run the Yahoo Go application, there’s a wickedly nice news icon there in the menu. Click it and you get a list of headline options — ‘Entertainment’ for example. Click on Entertainment ……….. and what happens? Well, it loads the phone’s web browser and then the Yahoo News entertainment headlines.
How disappointing. I was expecting it to RSS the news down to the Yahoo Go application. It’s a total cop out to send people to their mobile web browser when they’ve specifically clicked to open the Yahoo Go service.
Anyway I’m umming and ahhing about hooking it all up with my Yahoo username so that it’ll do the integrated thing with the address book, calendar and whatnot.
Wotcha reckon? I’ll give it a go. Better back everything up here on the Apple though.
(As for this post headline: I had to copy The Register‘s habit of sticking an exclamation point after every word in the title for anything to! do! with! Yahoo!)
