How reliable would the first Apple iPhone be?
Link: MobileCrunch Would the iPhone be any better? [if the MacBook Pros all work like mine].
Oliver’s having a bad day — er, or month, it looks like, with his new MacBook. He finishes his post thus:
Do I think that Apple is going to launch a phone? Honestly, yes, I do. Do I think it is going to live up to expectations? Most likely. But not yours. Mine. Do yourself a favor. wait until they’ve at least sorted out the MacBooks before you plunk down cash on a new girlfriend that makes you crazier than the last one did.
I agree with him. They don’t have a choice – market mechanics require some sort of response from Apple.
However, Oliver makes a point that everyone keeps telling me: Never buy the first generation of Apple. Let them fix the first generation then buy the second. My friend Tom, the Bloomberg-Apple-Watcher, is an Apple Fiend but hasn’t yet upgraded to the MacBook. He’s a huge fan — a HUGE fan — but I was completely surprised by his direct, ‘Nah, the first lot are always shit’ viewpoint. My Apple G5 Desktop has been nothing short of perfect since it arrived in Feb.
