iPad 2 Reactions: Ben Cusack from Mobile Interactive Group
Kicking off our iPad 2 industry reaction series, let’s hear from Ben Cusack, Marketing Director at Mobile Interactive Group (MIG):
Apple has had a two year head start with the iPhone but haven’t had that luxury with the iPad and there are some great tablets in the market now and better ones on the way. Although still first to market, the iPad will have to compete head on with cheaper and smaller tablets.
Just like the iPhone, the iPad is great at content and browsing. I have had an iPhone for years, I swapped in for HTC Desire running on Android 2.2 which is a great device and I quickly realised that I didn’t miss Apple, the iPhone or the operator. But I did miss my content, so went back to the iPhone.
I also have an iPad which started off life as the most desirable gadget that I didn’t need. After syncing with iTunes and adding a few HD apps I very quickly, without realising it, saw the iPad replace a lot of my (and the kids) content consumption from iPhone and MacBook.
It’s a great device and yesterday’s announcement just made it better. What do I think? It’s thinner, faster, slicker and quicker but most importantly runs a content environment that is hard to beat. The new software is also key, enhancing an amazingly fast experience further. That said, I’m not so sure about the integration of the cameras – using Facetime on an iPhone 4 gives me arm ache!
Nice one Ben, thank you.
