The shittest thing about Windows Vista

When I’m in the SMS Text News office, I generally blog with my Windows Vista machine — principally because it’s got two 29.5″ monitors and, thus, a lot of deskspace for Twitter feeds, browser windows, email, instant messages and so on.

Other than that, I strictly use the Apple operating system for everything else.

Some BRIGHT SPARK at Microsoft has decided to program the Vista OS to confirm every.single.installation.operation on the machine. Some further BRIGHT SPARK has clearly decided to have a bit of fun with the installation process. Try installing a program or making any large change and your monitor(s) turn black. Completely black.

Then they lighten a bit to show a ‘greyed out’ screen with your focus moving to the ‘Are you sure you want to install this program’ display box.

Every time this happens, my heart jumps because I think the OS has crashed.

Stupid. Totally stupid. Just ask me for my password – like with Leopard.
