The SMS Text News video/podcast

We’re going all multimedia on your ass here at SMS Text News.

Shortly, we’ll be launching a weekly video/podcast discussing the most interesting and most annoying stories of the week and showing off the gizmos we’ve been playing with. We’re going to see how it goes.

Whilst the focus was initially on audio, I’m giving a lot of thought to streaming the video too. There’s been some internal discussion here at SMS Towers about whether we use the likes of QIK, FlixWagon or the like to record the video and audio; or if we should get a studio and do some HD video.

I’d appreciate your viewpoint on this.

I reckon we’ll keep it relaxed and semi serious. A bit like our Unlimited Drinks events. Most probably 2-3 regular panelists with 2-3 guests each week. I think we should get some normobs and some industry experts in as guests.

For example, it’d be pretty nifty to have Tim from Omnifone/MusicStation along to give us a viewpoint on their service and then ask him about the state of the mobile industry. Goodness me, we might even be able to tempt some mobile operator executives to appear. Although a lot of the people I know there might be reduced to putting a bag over their head on-screen and having their voice digitally altered because whilst they can brief me in the background and I can quote some of their text anonymously — going ‘public’ is a different kettle of fish. We’ll see.

Ah yeah, and we can get the winner of the Esendex developer competition to come in and talk about his or her two-way text service.

I can think of some wicked guests though, who I reckon will have a lot to say. If you’d like to be a guest, ‘bring it’, as I have started saying (i.e. ‘bring it on’) — knock me over an email. Also, if you have some suggestions for where we might be able to record this or you’d like your company to be involved, then let’s chat. I think we might end up needing a studio of some sort.

So, we’re about 2 weeks ago from posting up the first podcast — or videocast — meantime I’d welcome your feedback.
